Rowan Aikido Club
began life in June 2006 at Rowan school, Dore, Sheffield but shortly moved to its present home at Speedwell Rooms, Inkersall Rd, Staveley, Chesterfield, Derbyshire S43 3JL    Google map     Street maps

Chief Instructor William Phillips (2nd Dan) trained and graded directly under Steven Newton Sensei (3rd Dan) and Michael Narey Sensei (8th Dan) , The president and founder of The National Aikido Federation. Started martial arts training in 1997, he finally settled with traditional aikido in 1999, after teaching at Sheffield Hallamshire Aikido club for many years, moving on to form a sister club, Rowan Aikido in June 2006.

Currently a student of George Forbes Sensei (6th Dan), founder of Shobu Aikido UK which follows the traditional Ueshiba-style of Aikido, following the foundations of Aikido given by Nobuyoshi Tamura Shihan(8th Dan).

Training facilities:
Nice sized permanent matted dojo, with crash mats, changing rooms with showers & toilets.

Affiliations:
Rowan Aikido club is a member of Shobu Aikido UK association founded by George Forbes Sensei (5th Dan) who has been practicing and teaching Aikido for over 35 years. He has studied in Japan, Belgium, France, Spain and the U.S.A on a regular basis with many different Sensei (Teachers) but his passion is Aikido as practiced by Nobuyoshi Tamura Shihan (8th Dan).
